What classes are offered at Ice House Athletics?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is offered as a grappling-based martial art form whose central theme is the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force him to submit.  The classes include both Gi and Non-Gi sessions.

Tae Kwon Do is not currently being offered in this year's curriculum.

What ages are Jiu-jitsu students?

Jiu-jitsu classes are designed for students that are at least 13 years old.  Attendance of children 12 and under must be approved by the instructor.  It is recommended for parents or guardians of students under the age of 18 to consult with instructors before signing up.

Can I learn MMA (mixed martial arts) here?

The foundation of any fighting art can be greatly improved with skilled instruction and appropriate practice, however, Ice House Athletics does not focus on MMA training as a specific goal.  Student safety is our top priority.

Your instructors are known for their fighting abilities, can I just show up and test my skills?

No. During scheduled class times our instructors are focused upon teaching and developing the skills of their dedicated students.  It is not appropriate to disrupt class to make challenges.  We cater to the development of students of all ages and abilities.

Can I use your facility to train but not take classes?

No. Due to insurance regulations, Ice House Athletics does not allow use of the gym without a qualified instructor present at all times.

What does Ice House Athletics think of the other martial arts schools?

Ice House Athletics has a very good working relationship with other martial arts schools and instructors.  We would be happy to recommend alternatives if we cannot provide what you are looking for.  We actively encourage any prospective students to visit multiple schools to find the one that best meets their needs.
